Resume

Silence Is Golden is a slogan for a grass roots campaign I made to encourage people to speak up about current world atrocities despite the influx of negative publicity towards protesters and activists during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The campaign includes a poster triptych and a small magazine style book featuring a short narrative about my personal feelings about the Olympics and freedom of
speech. The poster series is xylene transfer with acrylic stencilled over. The qualities of the materials
used is meant to emulate two voices: the transferred newsprint bears headlines of different international newspapers featuring protest and civil unrest. It is that of the masses, speaking as a united voice against the wrongdoings of corrupt leaders. the black acrylic band stretching across, masking the newsprint is the big-brother-esque voice of government and the Olympic Committee, vetoing any dissent from the so called Olympic Dream.
